Jerky Transmission

Hi all, we have a 2016 T5 Fed and the transmission is shifting what I would consider poorly. Feels like it flares, or doesn't know what gear it wants to be in.

I'm going to bring it up at the next service (2 year) but I'm wondering if any of you all have had the same experience.

+1 My wife's 2013 has done that since she purchased it and her 2007 S80 3.2 did the same thing. She has had software updated to no avail. We just live with it.

Does the 2016 T5 have the 6 speed or 8 speed automatic? In March or so of last year Volvo released a TSB for the 6 speed whereby owners could go back to an older version of the software befoe Volvo introduced the horrible behavior Aschman describes. Search here on this forum for the thread and TSB on it.

As an experiment, try to drive it aggressively for a few trips (i.e. harder acceleration from a stop than normal to hold it in first gear longer, just more throttle, nail it more to pass, etc.). I think the learning algorithm is somewhat mediocre Volvo's trannies and "casual" driving seems to have them drift into this crappy sloppy shift mode...worth a shot.

After posting to the thread for clicking/ticking, I decided to check for the transmission issue. A well described "Jerky Transmission" I noticed two years ago just didn't think anything of it until I just experienced the clicking/ticking noise upon acceleration. Twenty plus years of leasing Volvo cars, I'm done.
